Game Recap

The Lions entered their fifth non-conference game of the season against a tough Southlands Christian Eagles team who just came off the heels of defeating Miramonte League foe Garey High School 74-52.

Both teams started the first quarter trading buckets until it was Edgewood who received the upper hand up 49-36 at halftime. As the Lions seemed to be pulling away with a double digit lead, the Eagles came soaring back cutting the lead to 8 points. It wasn’t until the Lions figured out a way to stop the zone defense pulling away with a solid 13 point victory.

The Lions were led by junior guard Daniel Felix who finished the game with 23 points. Niko Yamamoto performed well with a 16 point performance. Senior guard Ozzy Mancilla ended up huge on both ends of the floor ending up with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Sebastian Andrade and Alfredo Diaz played huge for the Lions combining with 4 threes earning 10 and 8 points respectively.

Edgewood now ends 2016 with a winning record going 12-2 with their last remaining non-conference game on January 6th against Arroyo High School. The Knights from Arroyo defeated the Lions last year at The Lions Den 65-59. This year the Lions must travel to Arroyo in hopes of avenging last years home loss. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
